Anthony M. Kurtzner, Sr.

August 7, 1949 - August 8, 2018

Anthony M. Kurtzner, Sr., 69, of Old State Road, Broadalbin died Wednesday August 8, 2018 at the Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville. He was born in Schenectady on August 7, 1949 a son of Edwin and Theresa Cassillo Kurtzner and attended local schools. Tony lived in Broadalbin for the past forty five years. He proudly served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1971. Mr. Kurtzner was employed as a custodian at the Broadalbin-Perth School District for thirty eight years, retiring in 2015. He enjoyed working and interacting with the students. Tony enjoyed motorcycling with his friends and loved caring for his Harley-Davidson, his pride and joy. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially his coffee buddies at Stewart’s. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert, who died in 2002. Survivors include his children, Anthony (Rebecca) M. Kurtzner, Jr. of Grayling, MI, Kelly Stafford (Mike Ritchie), and Edward Kurtzner (Cheryl Abraham), all of Amsterdam; his siblings, Pamala (Michael) Passino of Broadalbin, Sandra (Wade) Fleming and Edwin (Donna) Kurtzner, III all of Schenectady; six grandchildren, Michele, Kamryn, Thomas, Katy, Melonie, and C.J.; and several nieces, nephews , and cousins. Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4-7 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown. A military graveside service will be held on Monday at 1 pm at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Schenectady, with Brother Ron Mcclosky, P.B. presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
