Connie Sue Emrick

June 26, 1966 - January 16, 2020

Connie Sue Emrick, 53, of Burr Street, Gloversville passed away suddenly on Thursday January 16, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Utica on June 26, 1966 a daughter of George and Clara Belle Crandall Dedicke and was a 1983 graduate of Ilion High School. Connie later received an Associate’s Degree from FMCC. She moved to Mayfield in 1986 and later to Gloversville, where she had since resided. Mrs. Emrick was employed as a direct support coordinator for three years at Lexington ARC in Gloversville, before being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017. Connie fought the disease and beat it. She enjoyed crocheting, dancing, reading, watching TV crime dramas, and playing Bingo. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Carl Dedicke, and a grandson, Kenyon. Survivors include her husband, Shaun, whom she married on September 25, 1986; two sons, Michael Emrick of Gloversville and James Emrick (Brandy) of Fort Plain; four daughters, Desiree (Faye) Carpenter, Shauna (Brandon) Smith, Brooke Emrick (Stephen Jacobs), Roxxann (Jared) Valentine, all of Gloversville; a step-son, Robert Emrick; a step-daughter, Elisibeth Hawkins both of Buffalo; a brother, George (Laura) Dedicke of Louisville, KY; two sisters, Hope Field of Frankfort, NY and Amber Bennett of Gloversville; her best friend and sister-in-law, Roxanne Emrick of Gloversville; eleven grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday from 1 – 2 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown followed by a memorial service at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
