Doreen Halpin

November 7, 1961 - August 22, 2021

Doreen Halpin, 59, formerly of Broadalbin, passed away on Sunday August 22, 2021, in Philadelphia, PA. She was born in Roslyn, NY on November 7, 1961, a daughter of Donald and Margaret Nugent Halpin and lived on Long Island before moving to Broadalbin with her family in 1972. Doreen was a 1979 graduate of Broadalbin High School. Ms. Halpin was employed as a licensed practical nurse for thirty years. She moved to Fayetteville, NC in August 2020 and at the time of her death, was employed at Cape Fear Valley Home Health / LHC Group there. She was of the Catholic faith. Doreen loved flower gardening, reading books and doing craft projects. She really adored her family, especially her grandchildren. For the past ten years, Doreen was a dedicated caregiver to her parents. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Timothy. Survivors include three children, Michelle (Aaron) Hoyt of Perth, Eric Insogna of Amsterdam, and Amber Passino of Perth; two brothers, Donald (Lauri) Halpin, Jr. of Loudin, TN and William Halpin of Gloversville; a sister, Linda Castro of Amsterdam; two grandchildren, Connor Insogna and Fiona Spraker; a niece, Molly Halpin; a nephew, Daniel Castro; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cremation was performed in Pennsylvania. Calling hours will be held on Saturday September 18, 2021, from 11 am – 1pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown followed by a prayer service at 1pm with Rev. Robert DeMartinis, officiating. Final burial will be in Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery. In accordance with current recommendations, facial coverings and social distancing are required.
