Edward H. (Buck) Fick, Jr., 81 of West Pine Street Gloversville, died peacefully at home on Saturday, April 20th. Edward was born in Schenectady on January 7, 1938, the son of the late Edward and Francis Vrooman Fick. He was educated in the Schenectady City School District and was a U.S. Army Veteran and served during the Korean War. Mr. Fick was employed as a machinist at General Electric Company in Schenectady, retiring in 1994. He later enjoyed working for the NYS Department of Conservation treating the Adirondack streams. An avid outdoorsman, Buck enjoyed hiking, hunting, fishing, period camping, and shooting competitions. He was a member of the Caroga Fish and Game Club and the NRA, and a former member of the Northeastern Rendezvous Association. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his camp in Caroga Lake, and completing crossword and soduko puzzles. In addition to his parents, Edward was predeceased by his two sisters, Stella Felger and Susan Fick, and a son-in-law, Craig Anderson. Survivors include his wife, Rita A. Myers Fick, whom he married on June 24, 1978, his children Edward H. (Maryann) Fick III, of Schenectady, Debra (John) Benedict of Saratoga Springs, James W. Fick, Karen (Mitch) Blackwood, and Kathy (Paul) Johnson, all of Gloversville, Jay Roller of West Point Utah, and Connie Anderson of Mayfield; sixteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5-7pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 11 County Highway 106, Johnstown followed by a memorial service at 7pm with Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
