Eleanor Overend Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Eleanor Overend, 94, formerly of Vail Mills, died Tuesday morning April 28, 2015 at the Fulton Center for Rehabilitation, Gloversville. She was born in Gloversville on November 10, 1920 a daughter of John and Mildred Simons Buyce and moved to Broadalbin as a child. Eleanor was a 1938 graduate of Galway High School. She moved to Vail Mills in 1966 and later was a resident of the Petoff Garden Apartments. Mrs. Overend was employed as a bookkeeper for Agway, Inc. in Amsterdam, retiring in 1982. She was a former member of St. Joseph’s Church in Broadalbin and a former member of the Catholic Daughters in Galway. She was married to Harold Overend on June 10, 1939. He died December 5, 1972. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter Patricia A. Bazan, who died in 1986; two brothers, Donald and John Buyce; and a sister, Bernadine Czelusniak. Survivors include a daughter, Noreen Chupka of Mayfield; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A graveside service will be held at the Galway Village Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brennan Memorial Humane Society, in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 Johnstown, NY.
