Frank W. Bellinger

Frank W. Bellinger Gloversville – Frank W. Bellinger, 96, formerly of County Highway 155, Gloversville passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021, at the Wells Nursing Home with his loving family at his side. He was born in Colton, NY on September 19, 1925, a son of Frank A. and Marietta Clark Bellinger and moved to Johnstown as a young child. Frank was a 1942 graduate of Johnstown High School and was a longtime area resident. During World War II, Mr. Bellinger proudly served in the United States Navy. Frank was employed at Swears Glove Factory and later worked at Knox Gelatin, both formerly of Johnstown. He retired in 1987 from Hawkins Manufacturing where he worked as a machinist. Frank was one of the founding members of the Rockwood-Garoga-Lasselsville Volunteer Fire Co. and along with his father, helped build the fire station. He also was one of the founding members of the Petoff Garden Apts. Gardening Club. Frank enjoyed camping, boating, hunting, and fishing. He was a skilled gardener and was always tinkering and creating whatever was needed at a moment’s notice. Frank married Mary Volpp Bellinger on September 4, 1949. She died on December 26, 2017. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, William and Alan Bellinger. Survivors include two daughters, Terry Herrnkind of Johnstown and Kimberly (David) Moses of Tampico, IL; a brother, Elwyn Bellinger of Pheonix, AZ; a sister, Dianne Johnson of Mayfield; two grandchildren, Kristen (Christian) Hosler and Ryan (Rebecca) Herrnkind; two great-grandchildren, Devin and Brian Green; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street) Johnstown followed by a memorial service at noon with Pastor Peter Ellis, officiating. Facial coverings are respectfully recommended. Final burial will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Daily Bread Ministries in care of the funeral home.
