James A. Miller, Jr., 62, of Broadalbin passed away at home on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. He was born in Amsterdam on September 18, 1959, the only son of the late James A. Miller, Sr. and Rena and Henry Dersch. He was a 1977 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Miller was employed in the trucking and transportation industry. He worked as a diesel mechanic, a tow truck driver for Bob Montenaro, and as a fleet safety manager. His most rewarding position was as a fleet manager for Lancaster Development in Richmondville. Jim was a former member and Captain of the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department. He was an active member of the Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company. Survivors include his wife, Susan Semione Miller, whom he married on November 18, 2017; two children, Timothy (Emily) Miller and Jennifer Miller, both of Amsterdam; his siblings, Carol Phillips, Karen Boyd, Barbara (Peter) Tautznik, Joan (Dominick) Simeone, Susan Miller (Ron Davis), and Gail (John) Carusone; step-sisters and step-brother, Joanne (Richard) Mucilli, Jill (Rob) Cassube, and Jim (Lisa) Hare; the mother of his children, Kay Gorman Miller; four brothers-in-law, James (Barbara) Semione, John Semione, Joseph Semione (Kelly) and Peter Semione; a sister-in-law, Linda (Tom) Gilbert; five grandchildren, Antonia, Logan, Colin, Faith and Adam; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. James cherished the close friendships he had with Rich Harris, Clifford and Annie Hay, Bill Robinson, John Brojakowski and Robert Fitz-James. Jim enjoyed metal detecting, doing yard work, and tinkering on small engines. He was happiest when he was helping others and was known as the neighborhood “go-to-guy”. He will be forever loved and missed. Jim adored and was known to spoil his four felines, Bizzi, Jake, Brady and Poofi. He is now re-united with his dog Lacey and cats Ernie, Norton, Fluffy, Wonka, Wally, Kyle, Patti, Mingo and Moo. Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 4 – 6 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown followed by a service with the Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company, led by Chaplain Keith Bartholoma. Facial coverings are respectfully recommended. Memorial contributions may be made to the Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company or to the Brennan Memorial Humane Society, both in care of the funeral home.
