In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Richard Towne (Irene), Naomi Bruse (Harold), Clarence, Harry, and Roland Clute, and Shirley Miller (Eugene); and two brothers-in-law, David Pollak and Richard Briggs. Survivors include her husband Clyde Cheney, whom she married on December 26, 1964. They recently celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage on December 26, 2021. She is also survived by two daughters, Kimberly Cowles (William) and Jackie Cheney-Girard (Eric Girard); a son, Jason Cheney (Tassiana Oliveira); four adored granddaughters, Lauren and Samantha Kent, and Paige and Natalie Girard; two sisters, Hazel Pollak and Betty Briggs; three sisters-in-law, Grace and Geraldine Clute, and Fran Older; a brother-in-law; Richard Cheney (Donna); and several nieces and nephews. In accordance with Joan’s wishes, there will be no services. A celebration of life will take place at a later date for family and friends.
