Leonard L. Davis, 84, of Riceville Road, Gloversville passed away at home on Tuesday October 8, 2019. He was born in Broadalbin on October 15, 1934 a son of Louis and Gladys Gibson Davis and was educated in local schools. As a lifelong area resident, Leonard moved to Gloversville in 1961 and later to Mayfield in 1973. Mr. Davis was employed as a leather shaver at the former Avis-Isotoner in Gloversville. He was a US Army veteran and proudly served from 1957 – 1959. Leonard was a former member of the Johnstown Moose Club and the Pine Tree Rifle Club. He also belonged to several area bowling leagues years ago. Leonard enjoyed ice fishing and snowmobiling, and hunting and fishing. He was an avid NY Yankee fan. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Sleezer. Survivors include his wife, Janet Tomlinson Davis, whom he married on June 24, 1961; a sister, Shirley Ahrens of Glen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown followed by a funeral service at 1:30 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams, officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Fern Dale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Kidney Foundation or to the American Heart Assoc., both in care of the funeral home.
