Marion "JR" C. Dean, Jr.

June 1, 1943 - February 10, 2022

Marion “JR” C. Dean, Jr., 78, of Steele Ave. Ext, Gloversville, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at St. Mary’s Healthcare, Amsterdam. He was born in Gloversville on June 1, 1943 a son of Marion and Mrytle McDougall Dean and was educated in Broadalbin. JR was a lifelong Gloversville resident. Mr. Dean owned and operated Dean’s Auto Body in Gloversville for several years. In addition, he worked at several auto dealerships including the former Longwell Chevrolet and Rose Buick. JR enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and camping. He also enjoyed rifle shooting. He was a member of the Pine Tree Rifle Club and the NRA. He was married to Irene Belkowski on July 19, 1986. Sadly, she died May 27, 2020. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Edith, Orville, Laverna, Elvin, Oriella, Clara, and Lillian. Survivors include three children, Becky Horan, Michelle (Bill) Groat, and Matthew Dean; three stepchildren, Michael (Wendy) Raczynski, Michele (William) Stefanik, and Melinda (Michael) Harrington; fourteen grandchildren, Keeley (Jeremy), Luke, Thomas (Savannah), Sarah (Kyle), Ryan, Katie, Amanda, Emily (Jacob), Abigail (Thomas), Cordell (Sara), Molly, Jake, Archer and Sawyer; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A calling hour will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022, from 5 – 6 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown followed by a memorial service at 6PM at the funeral home with Rev. Cindy Van Allen, officiating. Final burial will be in the spring at Fern Dale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
