Roger Anthony Jarosz Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Roger Anthony Jarosz Grand Gorge – Roger Anthony Jarosz, age 64, passed away suddenly in his home in Grand Gorge on October 24th, 2019. He was born in Amsterdam N.Y. on August 15, 1955 a son of Josephine and Antoni "Pop" Jarosz and grew up in Amsterdam, NY. Mr. Jarosz worked for many years at CSX in Selkirk N.Y. as a yard supervisor until retiring in 2014. Roger was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed catching many games on the radio. He was a well-read individual and thoroughly enjoyed the subjects of physics and politics. Proud of his family, heritage and of just being a New Yorker, Roger loved being outdoors, and spending time with the ones he loved. An avid hiker, he managed to conquer many of the Adirondack High Peaks in his time. One of his most cherished moments was making the summit of Mount Marcy with his sons. At the time of his passing he was survived by two sons, Antoni and Chester Jarosz; a brother, David Jarosz; a sister Jaqueline Jarosz; a granddaughter, Stella Jarosz; and a niece and two nephews, Caroline, Jack, and Reed Jarosz. Two grandchildren Antoni “J.J.” and Aria Jarosz, were born after his passing. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 3, 2021 at 11am at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106, (corner of Rt. 29 and Black St.) Johnstown with Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. In accordance with current health guidelines, facial coverings and social distancing are required.
