Sylvester Muscato
August 15, 1944 - April 24, 2018
Sylvester “Sam” Muscato, 73, of Hagaman, passed away peacefully at home in the loving arms of his adored family and best furry friends on Tuesday April 24, 2018. Sam was a unique man and was well respected with great integrity. He truly loved his family, friends, and pets. He was born in Amsterdam on August 15, 1944 a son of Rufus and Antoinette Muscato and was thrilled to be named after his grandfather, Sylvester Dilello. Sam was able to reconnect with his grandfather’s family in Italy and was honored to be part of that family. He was a meat cutter for many years, and owned successful businesses in custom cut meat, landscaping, and friendly fire paintball. Along with his family, Sam mentored many young men and friends. There are no words to describe what a great guy Sam was. Sam loved hunting, fishing, and the Adirondacks. He taught his sons to appreciate nature and the rules of the environment. He was an amazing man of many talents. Anyone who took the time to get to know him quickly realized what an honor it was to be his friend. Survivors include his wife Nancy of fifty years; three sons, Michael, Brian, and Darren; a daughter, Michelle; an “adopted” daughter, Alyana Millan Lomax; six grandchildren, Kyle, Briana, Monica, Erica, Macy, and Elijah; three siblings, Linda, Sandra, and Ralph; his beloved Uncle “Zump”; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 2 – 5 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the CCHS Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
