Violet D. Braemer

Violet D. Braemer, age 80, a longtime Johnstown resident, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at the Fulton Center in Gloversville. She was born in Johnstown on May 7, 1936 a daughter of Ira and Ruth I. Putman and graduated from Bob Jones Academy in Greenville, South Carolina in 1954. Mrs. Braemer was the Housekeeping Supervisor at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam until her retirement in 1999. She was a church organist and choir member at Perth Bible Church for 12 years and continued as an organist and pianist for the Fords Bush Bible Church and Village Bible Church in Fort Plain until she became ill. Mrs. Braemer was a member of the Sew Busy Quilt Guild of Gloversville for several years. She is survived by her husband, Walter R. Braemer, whom she married on August 6, 1954; three children, Walter R. Braemer Jr. of Fort Plain, Shari R. Bowne of Johnstown, and Martin R. Braemer of Mims, Florida; a sister, Charlotte C. Petersen of Johnstown; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 17th at 1 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street) Johnstown, NY. Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the new section at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
