William H. Handy

February 15, 1962 - November 19, 2017

William H. Handy, 55, of Perique Road, Gloversville died Sunday November 19, 2017 at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Gloversville on February 15, 1962 a son of Harlan Handy and Eugenia Walter and attended school in Mayfield. Bill was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Handy was employed as a dyer at Lee Dye in Johnstown. Most recently, he worked in the maintenance department at Salvione Insurance Agency in Gloversville. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing, 4-wheeling and boating, and spending time with family and friends. He was considered a work-a-holic and loved helping others. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brothers, Louis Handy and Joe Walter; and close friends, Jerry Sweet and Joseph Salvione, Sr.. Survivors include his wife, Yvette Cramer Handy, whom he shared thirty seven years with; two sons, Joshua R. Handy of Gloversville and William H. Handy, II of Stillwater; two daughters, Colleen (Jason) Rowback of Gloversville and Kelli Handy of Fort Plain; eight brothers, Tim Handy, Donald Handy, Duffer (Bonnie) Handy, Aaron (Deborah) Handy, David Handy, Bucky Walter, Johny (Charlotte) Walter, and David (Pat) Walter; two sisters, Lois (Jerry) Cole and Nancy (Bill) Jodin; three grandchildren, Jaylynn, Gavin, and Jaidan; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his best friends, Chris Warner and David Becker. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 1 – 3 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown followed by a service at 3pm conducted by Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams. Cremation will be performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital of Boston, in care of the funeral home.
