Angela M. Marcais

It is with extreme sadness and endless love that we share the passing of Angela Mary Marcais at age 52. She passed away peacefully at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 5:55 am. Born on August 3, 1973, in Amsterdam at St. Mary’s Hospital and raised in Broadalbin, New York, Angela was a beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, partner, family member, and friend whose strength and courage touched everyone who knew her. For nearly two years, Angela fought a hard battle against Stage 3B liver cancer. She faced every obstacle with remarkable determination and grace. Even through treatments, appointments, and the physical challenges that accompanied her illness, she continued to live with purpose and resilience. For the longest time, many people would never have known she was fighting cancer because she carried herself with such strength, dignity, and courage. She refused to let cancer define who she was or take away the life she loved. Angela continued moving forward, loving her family, making memories, and showing everyone around her what true strength looks like. Even when doctors informed her that chemotherapy was no longer working and that the best path forward was comfort and peace, she faced that heartbreaking reality with the same bravery that carried her through every day of her journey. She found joy in painting, where her creativity shined, and she loved driving her hot rod. Angela also had a special gift for caring for plants and helping others, always nurturing the people and things she loved. She was Catholic and attended St. Joseph’s Church in Broadalbin. As her only child, I had the privilege of witnessing her incredible strength firsthand. While our relationship may not always have followed a traditional path, the time we shared throughout her illness brought us closer in ways words cannot fully express. I will forever cherish our conversations, our laughter, and the opportunity to walk beside her through the most difficult chapter of her life. Watching her fight so hard while continuing to put one foot in front of the other taught me more about courage than I could ever learn elsewhere. Throughout this journey, Angela’s mother, Amber Marcais, stood faithfully by her side, helping care for her with unwavering devotion, love, and strength. The bond between a mother and daughter is one of life’s greatest gifts, and their love for one another remained evident through every challenge. We find comfort knowing Angela was surrounded by love every step of the way. Angela leaves behind a daughter Charlotte Marcais; loving mother, Amber Marcais; a brother, Thomas “TJ” Marcais, Jr.; her longtime friend, Paul Meacham; many aunts, uncles, cousins, family members, and friends; and her seven cherished grandchildren, Ariana, Mason, Ayden, Maleia, Aliyah, Miyah, and Alani, who brought immeasurable joy and pride to her life. Cancer may have affected Angela’s body, but it never conquered her spirit. Her determination, courage, and will to keep fighting remained strong until the very end. She showed everyone around her what it means to persevere, even when faced with unimaginable challenges. Though our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing that Angela’s suffering has ended and that she is now resting comfortably. We will remember her not for the illness she endured, but for the strength she displayed, the love she gave, and the countless lives she touched. Rest peacefully, Mom. Your fight was fierce, your strength was extraordinary, and your love will remain with us forever. You carried more than anyone should have had to carry, yet you did so with courage and grace. We will forever be proud of you, forever grateful for you, and forever missing you until we meet again. I know there’s a huge celebration up there with Grandpa, Uncle Vic, Cousin Justin, and so many other special people who have been waiting to welcome you home. Until we meet again, your love, your strength, and your memory will live on in all of us.
