Frederick Robert "Bob" Cloutier

Frederick Robert “Bob” Cloutier, 82, formerly of Broadalbin, passed away at his home in Hendersonville, NC on Thursday, February 16, 2023, with his loving wife and family at his side. He was born at home in Broadalbin, NY on June 11, 1940, a son of Frederick and Edna Cloutier. Bob was a 1959 graduate of Broadalbin Central School. He lived in Broadalbin until moving to Florida in 2014, to be closer to his family. Bob moved to North Carolina in 2022 where he felt at home. Mr. Cloutier was employed at Fiber Conversion in Broadalbin until 1968. He later worked for forty years at The Cady Co./Gorman Brothers, retiring in 2010 as plant manager with Mohawk Asphalt. After retiring, Bob dedicated his time to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with them, and they always put a smile on his face. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by a son, Brian; and a sister and brother-in-law, Marylou and Wheaton Roser. Survivors include his wife and the love of his life, Margaret Ann “Peggy” Gasner Cloutier, of Hendersonville, NC, whom he married on August 29, 1964, at St. Joseph’s Church in Broadalbin; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Michael Hills of Hendersonville, NC; a son and his companion, Michael Cloutier and Patricia Myers of Ormond beach, FL; and a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Richard Abbatiello of West Sand Lake, NY. Bob will be missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ashley, Andrew, Hudson, and Henry Miller of Brighton, CO; Ryan, Emilie, Charlie, Rylie, and Benjamin Pickering of St. Augustine, FL, Marissa and Randy Barcelo of Coral Gables, FL, Michaela Hills and fiancé Megan Dukes of Deland, FL; Cody Cloutier and fiancé Megan Grant of Jacksonville, FL, and Taylor Cloutier of Hagaman, NY. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 11am – 1pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown. A prayer service will be held at 1pm at the funeral home with Rev. Jun Segura, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson. Memorial contributions may be made to Four Season Hospice, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC or to the American Diabetes Assoc., PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
