Gabriela E. "Gaby" Klimes

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gabriela E. “Gaby” Klimes, 74, of Pleasant View Drive, Gloversville. She passed away at home with her loving family beside her on Sunday May 11, 2025. She was born in Peine, Germany, on January 19, 1951, a daughter of Hans and Waltraut Brandes and was educated there. Gaby met Joe in December 1971 in a whirlwind romance and married a short time later on May 19, 1972. They moved to the United States from Germany in 1988 and lived in Sierra Vista, AZ until 2015 when they relocated to Gloversville, NY to be closer to family. Gaby gained her United States Citizenship on September 23, 2008. She resided in the Gloversville area for the past 10 years. Gaby loved to bring family together and entertain friends, and she was always the life of the party. She lived like there was no tomorrow. Gaby loved to travel, as her and Joe have been to so many wonderful places all over the world. Gaby loved to take pictures of her many adventures with her husband; her favorite place was the shores of the North Sea with Joe. She was always welcoming to family and friends who came her way. Gaby always had a pot of coffee on and dessert in the refrigerator, and she was ready to entertain her guests. Gaby was predeceased by her parents, in-laws John and Jane Klimes, and brother-in-law John F Klimes II. Survivors include her loving husband and best friend of 53 years, Joseph F Klimes of Gloversville, a sister, Kirsten Brandes of Germany, a sister-in-law, Joan DePietro of Herkimer, NY, two nephews, John Klimes III (Kim) of Ballston Lake NY and Colton Young of Gloversville NY, three nieces, Kellyann Phillips of Gloversville NY, Christine Houser (Edward) of Fultonville NY, and Ashley Easterling (Jeremy) of Richmond KY, and great nieces, Mikhaila Miles (Tyler), Madison Houser, Natalie Klimes, Katelyn Klimes, Lydia Easterling, Emmilee Swank (Zack & Otto), Viktoria Phillips (Anthony & Nolan), and Morgan Phillips. Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025, from 1-3 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown. A service will follow at 3pm at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Flanders, presiding.
