Gerard M. Kelleher, Sr.

Gerard “Jerry” M. Kelleher, Sr. 84, of Mayfield entered into his eternal life on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New York City on June 27, 1935 a son of Maurice and Harriet Collins Kelleher and grew up in Queens. Jerry was a resident of the town of Benson since 1977 where he raised his family and touched the lives of many with his kindness and outgoing personality. Jerry worked as an electrician and construction worker in his younger years and was a member of the IBEW Local #3. He was a member of the Auxiliary police and served in the Army National Guard. He was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Northville and his faith was important to him. Jerry was a spiritual man who prayed the rosary daily. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 8846 Northville, NY. Jerry loved his family more than anything and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his cat, Boots. He loved listening to music, reminiscing about the “old days”, watching old movies, and of course the Yankees and Green Bay Packers. He brought happiness and a smile to all those he met. His blue eyes lit up a room and live on in all of his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by many and forever in our hearts. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Kelleher; a sister, Marie Kelleher Scott; a brother-in-law, Edward Scott; and a nephew, Thomas Kelleher Jr.. Survivors include his children, Honora (Charles) Biche of Northville, NY, Katherine (Jonathan) Skipsey of Shrewsbury, VT, Colleen (John) Larmor of East Hampton, NY, and Gerard (Brandy) Kelleher, Jr. of Broadalbin, NY; the mother of his children, Mary Ann Kelleher (Joel) Bausewein of Hope, NY; ten grandchildren, Emma, Madalyn, Gerard III, William, Bree, James, Emily, Thoran, Eva, and Isla; a sister-in-law, Caroline Kelleher of Smithtown, NY; Kathleen (Martin) Maher of Lake VT; Charlotte (Peter) Bulka of Villa Ridge, MO; Margaret (Daniel) Breen of Greenfield Center, NY; Elizabeth (Steven) Chayer of Seatac, WA; and a brother-in-law, Thomas (Debra) Coyle of Buckley, WA; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. Calling hours will be held on Sunday January 19, 2020 from 2 – 5 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday January 20, 2020 at 11am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Northville with Rev. Jun Segura, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church or to Mountain Valley Hospice, both in care of the funeral home. Jerry’s family would like to gratefully acknowledge the compassionate care that was extended to him at Mountain Valley Hospice.
