Joyce E. Jones

Joyce E. Jones, 84, of Amsterdam, New York entered eternal heaven, May 14, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam. She was born in Broadalbin on June 22, 1936 a daughter of Orrin and Irene Sawyer White and was a 1954 graduate of Broadalbin Central School. Joyce was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Jones was employed at Mohawk Mills and the Big N for many years. She loved to sew and made many outfits for square dancing that she enjoyed with her husband. Joyce also loved gardening. She was a member of the Auxiliary at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital for several years and was a member of the Perthshire Grange. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Marian Farley and Shirley Rodd; a brother, Donald White; and a son, Kristopher R. Jones. Survivors include her husband, Walter R. Jones whom she married on September 9, 1956; three children, Kimberly (Scott) Carter of Amsterdam, Kelly (Greg) Fagan of Perth, and Kevin (Sue) Jones of Gloversville; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Jones of Deltona, FL; nine grandchildren, Mark (Darci) Carter, Jennifer Carter, Matthew (Anna) Fagan, Bryan (Regina) Fagan, Kelsey (Zach) Reynolds, Madeleine and Anderson Jones, Alyssa and Travis Jones; nine great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Roger Farley; a sister-in-law, Ruth Jones Quinn; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 11-1 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Linda Martin, officiating. In accordance with current health guidelines, facial coverings and social distancing are required. Burial will be held privately for the family at Union Mills Cemetery, Broadalbin. Joyce’s family would like to extend their appreciation to the fourth floor staff of St. Mary’s Hospital for their wonderful care during these past two weeks and a special thank you to Sue Frasier for her exceptional compassion and care. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Healthcare Auxiliary, in care of the funeral home.
