Linda McClarren

Linda McClarren, age 74, of Fultonville, NY died on Friday, October 5, 2018 with her loving children by her side. In her last weeks, Mom stated that she wanted a party. On the last day of her life, we all gathered by her bedside, singing some of her favorite good old country songs and hymns. It was a blessing to see her at peace with such love and care. Linda was born in Albany, New York on March 6, 1944, the daughter of Roland and Louise Kortz. She married George Leroy McClarren, Sr. and had eight children, all of whom at one time or another gave her immense joy, challenges, love, heartache, laughter, and tears as a brood of children would do. How did she ever survive raising eight of us! We have fond memories of her playing board games with us and coaching the girl’s Cinderella Softball team when we were young. Mom loved to play cards and bingo, and enjoyed trips with the girls to the casino. She had a love and a talent for painting, knitting and drawing. Mom is survived by her brother Richard (Sandra) Kortz; her eight children, Lorri (Richard) Robbins, Sara (Michael) Goot, Donna (Scott) Lewis, George (Karen) McClarren, Jr., John McClarren (Sue Null), James McClarren (Jill Simonds), Richard (Bonnie) McClarren, Kathryn (Raymond) Borst; seventeen grandchildren, Courtney Slawienski (Christopher Butkereit), Margaret (Andrew) O’Dea, Brittney Boyd, Rebekah Robbins, Zachary (Samantha) Robbins, Ryan Robbins, Arabelle Robbins, Bryon Lewis, Daniel Lewis (Haley Zautner), Cameron and Collin McClarren, Brooke and George McClarren III, Nateesha McClarren, Katelyn Babiarz, Madison and Rhyan Borst; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Linda is predeceased by her stepfather, John Creglis; husband, George Leroy McClarren, Sr.; and three brothers, James Kortz, Donald Kortz, and Michael Kortz. The family would like to thank Nathan Littauer Hospital and Mountain Valley Hospice for their exceptional love, compassion and care for Mom in her last days. It was a great blessing to us all to have her in their care. In accordance with Mom’s wishes, there will be no services.
