Patrick Robert Small

Patrick Robert Small, 35, of Broadalbin, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Westchester Medical Center, with his loving family at his side. He was born in Amsterdam on June 24, 1988, a son of Mark and Debra Mulhall Small and graduated in 2006 from Broadalbin-Perth High School with a regents Diploma. In 2010, Patrick graduated from St. Michael’s College in Winooski, VT and later earned a Masters in History with a Minor in Theology. He was a member of the Phi Alpha Theta National Honor Society. Patrick was a jack of many trades, including sub maker extraordinaire at the Town & Country Deli in Amsterdam. He worked as a certified nurse assistant/home health aide at Home Health Partners in Amsterdam, as well as privately in the community. Patrick was also a postal clerk at the Rock City Falls Post Office, and most recently was a direct salesman for Charter Communications in Latham. His love for life was evident in many forms. He was truly an amazing son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. Known as a big teddy bear, he provided a safe space for everyone, whether it was for a hug or a splitting gut from his sarcastic and witty humor. Patrick was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed the all-out wiffle ball games in the back yard with his buddies and Hammer. Red, and Reggie, and spending time at the Ole Timer’s Hunting Club in Arietta with his father and uncles. Patrick was a kind soul and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Joyce Anne and Robert Mulhall; his paternal grandparents, Lucille and Andrew Small; two uncles, Robert B. Small and Robert R. Mulhall, Jr.; and an aunt, Susan C. Mulhall. In addition to his loving parents, survivors include a sister, Amanda (Jose) Dolcemascolo; a nephew, Joseph; two nieces, Alyssa and Julia; two aunts, Cathy Mulhall and Lisa James Mulhall; two uncles, Scott (Kristy) Mulhall and Brian (Deborah) Small; and cousins, Jamie Lyn (Nicole) Mulhall, Nathan (Nicolas) Peterson, and Christopher (Katie) Small. Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, from 4 – 7 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown.
