Wanda L. Frye

Wanda Lee Quillan Frye, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, departed this life to be with the Lord on January 5, 2025, at the age of 72 years old. Wanda was a resilient, courageous woman, who overcame numerous hardships through her strong will and strong faith. Most of all, she was full of love for her family, and she would sacrifice in order to do anything in her power for her late husband, children and grandchildren, as well as many other loved ones in her life. Born November 25, 1952, the daughter of the late Charles Robert Quillan and Marilyn Frasier VanNostrand, Wanda grew up in Edinburg, New York. Of her siblings, she was predeceased by her brother Robert N. Quillan, and she is survived by her sisters, Brenda Finch, Michelle Smith (Tim) and Teresa Pelletier, and her brothers, Harvey VanNostrand (Sallie), Jody VanNostrand and Michael Quillan. Growing up, Wanda was the biggest helper to her mother in taking care of her younger siblings, and through that experience she became an expert homemaker. Nothing made her happier than to provide a nurturing home for her family and hospitality to anyone who might stop by. On October 17, 1970, Wanda was married to Paul A. Frye, and they were married for 49 years before Paul predeceased her on January 7, 2019. Their marriage, with all its ups and downs, was the most solid and beautiful marriage a couple could ever hope to have. They are survived by their daughter, Jennifer L. Rotondi (Eric), their son, Paul R. Frye (Kalli), and their dear grandchildren, Aleah S. Rotondi and Jacob P. Frye, all of whom they loved more than life. Wanda left behind many other loved family members and friends, including many nieces and nephews, and she played a very special surrogate-mother role in the life of her nephew Robert Farrington. Wanda’s greatest achievements in life are shown in the loving legacy of her children and grandchildren, who are better people because of her. The most important thing in her life was to care for her family and even feed her relatives and friends who would stop by – her brothers and their friends knew that when they went hunting in the woods near Wanda’s house, they could look forward to a welcoming cup of coffee and maybe even some pie if they stopped by the house. Loved ones will always remember Wanda (“Aunt Wanda” to so many) as a lively, charismatic, funny, practical, and most of all caring and loving, integral part of the family. There are no words to express just how much she will be missed by those of us left behind. Wanda’s wishes are joined with those of her late husband Paul, who will have a joint burial in the spring, followed by a celebration of life, the date of which is yet to be determined.
