Kristen Ann Sowle Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Kristen Ann Sowle Amsterdam Kristen Ann Sowle, 52, of Midline Road, Amsterdam passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Niskayuna on October 3, 1969, she was a daughter of Deborah Culkin and Wayne Ryder. She was a graduate of Fonda High School, Class of 1987 and was a resident of Perth, NY and of Murrells Inlet, SC. Kristen spent thirty years building a successful business, Advantage Moving and Storage, traveling across the United States, side by side with her husband, David. She always wanted to be a nurse and fulfilled her dream by starting Happy Family Home Care with her daughter in South Carolina for the last three years. She was known by everyone as a hard worker who was loving and cared for everyone she met. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, at the ocean, and taking special care of her animals. Survivors include her husband, love of her life, and best friend, David Sowle whom she married on August 8, 1998; daughters, Megan Podrazik, Leah Sowle, Kara Sowle, and Jessica Sowle; son, David Sowle; grandchildren, Anthony Podrazik, Leo Henderson, and Mason Gonzales; mother, Deborah (Larry) Culkin; father, Wayne Ryder; sisters, Janna Walsh and Jacklyn Ryder; stepfather, Richard Dickson; mother-in-law, Mary Provo; and several nieces, nephews and a cousin, Kimberly Masson. Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium in Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1-3 pm at Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street) Johnstown followed by a prayer service at 3 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Jun Segura, officiating.
