Anna E. Bidanset

Anna E. Bidanset, 97, of County Highway 155 Gloversville died Sunday morning September 7, 2014 at the Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville. She was born in Flushing, NY on October 3, 1916 a daughter of William and Cecelia Kenna O’Brien and was a 1932 graduate of Newtown High School. Anna moved to Black Street in the Town of Mayfield in October 1961 and has remained an area resident. Mrs. Bidanset was employed at numerous positions throughout her working career, working at Macy’s in New York City, Central Markets in Amsterdam, and the Fulton County Office of the Aging. Anna enjoyed working and contributing her organizational talents so much so that she retired several times, the latest at age 88. She was a hard-working individual with exceptional work ethics and was always respected by fellow employees. Anna was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Broadalbin and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of the Perth Senior Citizens. Anna enjoyed bowling and pottery. Her greatest delight was spending time with her family and friends. She was married to Robert E. Bidanset on October 29, 1936. He died in January 1978. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two daughters, Lorraine Pelosi and Marilyn Spraker. Survivors include a son, William R. Bidanset of Broadalbin; six daughters, Roberta (Anthony) Certonio of Syosset, Jacqueline Verrego of Gloversville, Anne (Leonard) Frasier of Johnstown, Diane (John) Strauss of Mayfield, Bernadette (Ralph) Fiorillo of Amsterdam, and Frances Mullin of Broadalbin; a sister, Eileen Beckner of Warfordsburg, PA; an aunt, Dorothy Kenna of Mineola; 27 grandchilden; 51 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am at St. Joseph’s Church 7 North Street Broadalbin with Rev. James Fitzmaurice, officiating. Burial will be in Union Mills Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 7 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street) Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or to the Foundation at St. Mary’s Healthcare, both in care of the funeral home.
