Elizabeth "Betty" C. Dylong Jornov

Elizabeth “Betty” C. Dylong Jornov , 81, of County Highway 106, Amsterdam, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, after a long illness, with family by her side. She was born in Amsterdam on August 9, 1942, the daughter of Leon and Regina Motyka Lisicki. Betty was a lifelong resident of the area, graduating from the Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1960. After dedicating many of her adult years raising her children as a stay-at-home mother, Betty decided to go into business, opening “The Flower Bed” nearly forty years ago. Located on Route 30 in Vail Mills, “The Corner” soon became an important stop and institution to many. Whether to make a purchase, to get advice, or just for someone to talk to, all that stopped by became Betty’s “Family”. Betty truly loved nature and was a true northeasterner; enjoying every season as they came. She loved being outside, gardening, and feeding her birds down on the “Corner”. She was an amazing cook and lived to spend time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Betty was a dedicated parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Broadalbin. She married the love of her life, Frank Dylong, on February 23, 1963. Sadly, he passed away on May 1, 1982. In addition to her husband, parents, and multiple siblings, Betty was predeceased by a son, Michael Joseph Dylong. Survivors include four children: Frank E. (Tracey) Dylong, Jr. of Seminole, FL, Michele E. Dylong (Jon Meca) of Amsterdam, Katherine M. (James) Rickard and Allison A. (Michael) Fariello, both of Broadalbin; a sister, Marguerite Mason of Mayfield; fourteen grandchildren: Taylor Wise, James Wise, Frank Dylong III, Colton Dylong, Garth Dockstader Jr. (Andrea), Ava Rickard, Aleya Rickard, Keyana (Brett) Kajganich , Ashton Fariello (Lorelei), Madison Fariello (Nicholas), Keegan Fariello, Amanda (Kieran) Hagzan , Alicia (Lanson)Cosh , Austin Rickard; four great-grandchildren: Gabriella and Mason Dockstader, Jose Serrano, and Jayden Vargas; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 7 North Street, Broadalbin with Rev. Jun Segura, officiating. A private burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Galway. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Mountain Valley Hospice, both in care of the funeral home.
