Janet Ann Bornt Gloversville – Janet Ann Masten Bornt, 68, of Gloversville passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Gloversville on August 3, 1952, she was a daughter of Herbert Drake and Eva Marie McKinney Masten. Jan attended school in Mayfield and was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Bornt was employed as a duplicator at MCA, later known as Universal Records, in Gloversville for thirty years and retired in 2005. After her retirement, Jan worked as a cook for Lexington Center in Johnstown. At the time of her death, she was employed by Manor Glass in Amsterdam. Jan was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Gloversville. She was an energetic person who enjoyed staying busy. Jan enjoyed cooking, baking, visiting casinos and traveling with friends. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Jan will be remembered for always helping anyone in need. She was married to James B. Bornt on August 22, 1987. Sadly, he died on March 14, 2016. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Paul Masten. Survivors include a daughter, Jenny (Frank) Verigan of Gloversville; four grandchildren, Amanda (Clay) Ippoliti, Brady Guy, and Aiden and Joseph Kimball; three great-grandchildren, Cash, Asher, and Scarlett; a sister, Beth Klena of Johnstown; two brothers, James (Judy) Masten of Gloversville and Charles Masten of Johnstown; a sister-in-law, Patricia “Del” Masten of Mayfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 4-6 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street) Johnstown. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 10, 2021 at noon at the funeral home with Rev. Peter Ellis, officiating. In accordance with current health guidelines, facial coverings and social distancing are required. Interment will follow in Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Jan’s memory to Emmanuel Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
