Jared Michael Preston

Jared Michael Preston, 26, left his earthly body on his birthday, Wednesday, April 22, 2026. He was born on April 22, 2000, and he lived his life with a generous spirit and a heart that left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Jared attended school in Johnstown and graduated from Broadalbin-Perth High School in 2018. He remained deeply connected to his community throughout his life and proudly served as a volunteer firefighter with the Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company. Jared demonstrated courage, commitment, and a willingness to help others in times of need. He was also a former member of the Half Moon-Waterford Fire District. Jared also contributed his time and care as a member of the Board of Directors for the Broadalbin Rural Cemetery. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life and enjoyed fishing, spending time gaming, and listening to music. Known for his big heart, Jared was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His kindness, humor, and compassion will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Jared was the beloved son of Ralph L. Preston of Broadalbin and Tammy Fogg of Johnstown; a devoted brother to Jordan, Alayna, and Chandler Preston, all of Broadalbin, as well as a brother by heart to Logan Pedrick of Sammonsville. He is also survived by several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins who will continue to cherish his memory. Jared’s passing is a heartbreaking reminder of the importance of mental health. His family encourages open conversations, compassion, and support for those who may be struggling. No one should feel alone and help is always available. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 1pm at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda with Rev. George Hopper, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests acts of kindness be made in his memory to continue the generosity Jared showed to others every day. Memorial contributions may be made to the Broadalbin Kennyetto Fire Company, in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown, NY 12095. Jared’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community forever. In keeping with his generous nature, Jared became an organ donor, hoping to improve lives of others.
