Joseph F. Klimes

It is with heavy hearts that the passing of Joseph F. “Joe” Klimes is announced by his family. Joe, 75, of Pleasant View Drive, Gloversville, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, after a long illness, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Little Falls, NY on December 6, 1949, a son of John and Jane Klimes. Joe met his beloved wife, Gaby, in December 1971, and they were married May 19, 1972. Joe and Gaby were married for 52 years, until her passing in May 2025. They lived in Germany and moved to the United States in 1988, living in Sierra Vista, AZ. In 2015, they relocated to Gloversville, NY, to be closer to family. Joe was a retired US Army veteran and served in Viet Nam in the Signal Corps, as well as in Germany and Arizona. He achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class. Later, Joe was an adjunct professor at Cochise College and at Department of Defense schools, teaching electronics before his eventual retirement. In addition to his wife and parents, Joe was predeceased by a brother, John F. Klimes, II and a great-nephew, Hunter Young. Survivors include a sister, Joan Klimes of Herkimer; a nephew, John (Kim) Klimes, III of Ballston Lake, NY, four nieces, Kellyann Phillips of Gloversville, NY, Christine (Edward) Houser of Fultonville, NY, Ashley (Jeremy) Easterling of Richmond, KY, and Josephine (David) Cotton of Shelby, NC; great-nieces, Katelyn Klimes, Natalie Klimes, Mikhaila Miles (Tyler), Madison Houser, Lydia Easterling, Emmilee Swank (Zack), Viktoria Moynihan (Anthony), and Morgan Phillips; great-nephews, Colton Young Gloversville NY, Logan Hollingshead of Gilbert AZ, Otto Swank of St. Johnsville, NY, and Nolan Longnecker of Broadalbin, NY. Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from noon- 2 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown, NY. A service will follow at 2pm with Pastor Thomas Flanders, presiding. Burial with military honors will be held at a later date at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
