Robert L. Kosowicz

Robert L. Kosowicz, 58, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Monday December 23, 2019 on his terms, in his home surrounded by his devoted family. Robbie, Bob, Koz, Kozy, Dad, Uncle Robbo…. Whatever name he went by, his personsa never wavered. He had a zest for life and a love of family and friends that was unparalleled. Born in Oradell, NJ on April 9, 1961 a son of Robert and Caroline Furey Kosowicz, Bob moved from Waldwick, NJ to upstate New York in the beginning of his senior year of high school. With his great sense of humor, he promptly found a crew of friends, who, along with childhood friends, became lifelong companions on his journey. It was in school that Bob’s passion for art and his true talent was born. A graphic artist by degree, earned at SUNY Buffalo, he made his livelihood with his amazing creativity. Bob worked for several local companies in their marketing and art departments and was employed at Kasson & Keller prior to his illness. He was a voracious reader, enjoying the news and current events, and was passionate about politics and music. He enjoyed talking with friends and on any given warm summer evening he could be found at the Café Koz, where he loved and told a good story; his laugh was unequaled. His presence will be greatly missed by all who love him. He was predeceased by two sisters, Jacqueline and Christine who passed away in 1957 and 1976. Survivors include his wife and love of his life, Jaime Cieply Kosowicz, whom he married on September 24, 1988; two daughters, Rebecca and Sara Kosowicz; his parents, Robert and Caroline Kosowicz; three sisters, Mary Alice Rebis, Caroline (Joe) Malachowski, and Katie (Terry) Bolibaugh; thirteen nieces and nephews, Brian (Lauren), Amanda (Matthew), Emilie (Ryan), Alison (Tyler), Stephanie, Jacqueline, Amanda, MaryKate, Carley, Connor (Pierre), Danny, Kathleen, and CJ; an uncle; and several cousins. Koz’s friends were much more than friends; they were friends who became brothers- Jack, Greg, Tomo, Jim, and countless others who loved and supported him, and impacted his life. Calling hours will be held on Sunday December 29, 2019 from 3 – 6 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11am at Holy Trinity Parish, 205 Glebe Street, Johnstown with Rev. Francis Vivacqua, officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Cancer Center, in care of the funeral home. Bob’s family is extremely grateful for the care given by all the staff at the Cancer Center, especially for Autumn, Ashley, Dana, Chelsea, April, and Jody.
