Rosemary Denmark

Rosemary Denmark, 73, formerly of Michael Circle, Johnstown, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at the Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Gloversville on January 2, 1950, a daughter of Richard and Ramona Curtis Kulwiec, and attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Johnstown. Rosemary was a 1968 graduate of Johnstown High School. She lived in the area most of her life, with the exception of nearly ten years when she lived in Sidney, NY. Rosemary moved back to Johnstown eighteen years ago. She began working at the former Idle Hour in Johnstown and would meet and later marry her beloved husband, Del. Mrs. Denmark later worked at the Fay’s Drugs as the Cosmetic’s Manager. While living in Sidney, Rosemary worked as a sales representative at At-A-Glance. When she returned to the area, she was employed as a nursing administrative assistant at Lexington ARC in Gloversville, before retiring in 2006. Rosemary was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church in Johnstown. She was a member of the Johnstown Moose Lodge and a bowling league at Perry Lanes. Rosemary loved cooking for her family, and she loved to travel. She spent time in Germany and Puerto Rico. She also enjoyed playing the piano and took lessons as an adult. Most of all, Rosemary loved spending time with her family and friends. She was married to Adelbert “Del” Denmark on January 18, 1969. Sadly, he died on July 17, 1988. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Ronald and Robert Kulwiec; and a sister, Ramona Fosmire. Survivors include three children, John (Leslie) Denmark, Marie Denmark Ayers, and Rebecca (David) Malagisi, all of Johnstown; two brothers, Rev. Richard Kulwiec, OMI of Eagle Pass, TX and Raymond (Santi) Kulwiec of Cambridge, NY; three sisters, Rita (Alan) Robinson of Syracuse, NY, Roberta Fioretti of Gloversville, and Ruth Ann Sturm of Amsterdam; six grandchildren, Adam Denmark, Megan Malagisi, David Malagisi, Taylor Denmark, Katelyn Cooper, and Brittany Holzmann; four great-grandchildren, Kylie, Karson, Connor, and Amelia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 1 – 4 pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street). A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at Holy Trinity Church 207 Glebe Street, Johnstown at 5pm with Rosemary’s brother, Rev. Richard Kulwiec, OMI and Rev. Matthew Wetsel. Burial of her remains will be held in the spring at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
